The General Mills Foundation continues as a strong partner with LAO America. As public money for after school programs is reduced the General Mills Foundation continues to invest in the future of the children in the Lao community with a $10,000 grant to our after school programs. The Minnesota Department of Human Services has extended funding for LAO America’s Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs program with a $52,500 grant. This grant runs July ’05 to June ’06. The City of Minneapolis has provided a combined $50,000 CDBG grant to LAO America and the Association for the Advancement of Hmong Women. The grant will be used to develop programs that promote health and well-being for the elders in our respective communities. LAO America will be the fiscal agent for this grant that runs June ’05 to May ’06. City of Minneapolis Empowerment Zone is providing a grant of $20,000 for the After School Program.
