LAO America Holds Drug Awareness Workshop

On December 18, 2004 Carol Ackley presented a workshop for the students at LAO America on the effects of drug abuse.

Carol worked with the LAO America’s older students and presented information about the many drugs they may come in contact with on an almost daily basis.

The students were split into groups to discuss what they know about a particular drug. This was followed by a report from each group about what they learned about that drug and the ways it can harm an individual.

At the same time the younger students were learning about self-esteem and being respectful to others.

Respecting yourself and others is a step towards a drug free life.

This program was one of many presented throughout the year as part of LAO America’s commitment to the youth of the Lao community.

Healthy kids make healthy families which make healthy communities.
