Having completed the program slightly less people thought that ATOD use was a current health issue than before they started. This was particularly so among participants under 50, while those over 50 held the opposite view.

The view that ATOD use is an illegal activity did not change among participants overall. However, male participants were slightly more likely to view such activity as illegal than were females. Individuals under 25 and over 51 showed an increase in their view that ATOD us was an illegal activity, but people from 26 to 51 showed a decline in this viewpoint.

There was an overall increase in the number of participants who were concerned about the use of or influence of ATOD on a family member. Concern varied by age with the under 18 and over 51 showing increased concern, while those between 19 and 50 showed less concern.

On the issue of talking to family members about the health risks associated with ATOD use 90% of participants responded that they had talked with family members. This same trend also held true for participants who talked to friends about the same issues.

On the issue of using alcohol and tobacco participants reported an overall decrease in their use; however, there was no change in the number of participants who reported recreational drug use.
